Press/e-Campaign Interns

Salary: None. Travel expenses paid.

Islington Liberal Democrats produce a great deal of literature throughout the year to get our message out to the people of the borough. We are looking at expanding our campaign, enhancing our e-Campaigning capacity and building up our relationship with the local media, as well as making better use of the large volumes of data we receive from our canvassing teams.

We are currently looking for two enthusiastic interns to work alongside the Borough Organiser, to help overturn Labour's slim 484 vote majority and to build on the profile of the Liberal Democrats across Islington. One intern will focus on press work, while the other will focus on our e-campaign. Both will be expected to assist with ongoing Campaign Office work.

What your role would be:

- Writing letters

- Dealing with correspondence

- Processing canvassing data

- Intra-party communication

- General office administration

- PRESS INTERN - Writing & generating ideas for press releases

- E-CAMPAIGNS INTERN - Producing e-campaigning material and gathering data

What would be expected from you

- Good level of literacy

- Competent telephone manner

- Excellent basic computer skills - especially for the e-Campaign intern

- Sympathy with Liberal Democrat policies & principles

- Good organisational skills

- Able to respect confidentiality

- Commitment to work at least two days per week until September

What would be an advantage, but is not required:

- Experience of campaigning

- Proficiency with database software and/or graphic design

- Party membership
