Islington Liberal Democrats have made sweeping changes to how the council uses and monitors the covert surveillance powers granted by the Labour Government. There will now be regular, public oversight by a council committee on all surveillance operations carried out by the borough.

Islington roads are safer than ever before, new figures from the council have revealed. Last year, fewer people than ever were killed or seriously injured on the borough's streets and roads. Islington's Liberal Democrats have celebrated the success of the borough's road safety schemes, and welcomed the next stage - a borough-wide 20mph speed limit in residential streets.

Successful campaign sees Foxham Gardens toilets re-open

Local residents and councillors have welcomed the re-opening of the public toilets in Foxham Gardens following a successful campaign on the issue by the Lib Dems. The toilets, which had been closed for some time, will now be open in time for the school holidays, so that local children who use the playground will now be able to use the toilets.
